A SKILFUL cartoonist whose satirical doodles are frequently published in a national news magazine will host a book launch and signing event this weekend.
Tom Armstrong, a musician with Dingus Khan, will unveil his Robotic Therapy Animals paperback at The Odd One Out, in Mersea Road, Colchester.
The book has been funded using part of a £9,741 windfall which was shared among 15 budding artists from the Firstsite Collectors’ Group Bursary Awards scheme.
Over the last few years, talented Tom has been contributing quirky sketches to the revered Private Eye publication, which was founded in 1961, using the initials T.E.A.
His book, however, acts as a collection of drawings he has produced for the fortnightly which have not been used by editors.
Speaking previously, Tom, who went to East Bergholt High School, said: “The book would bring about some sort of closure to the last few years’ work.
“[It would allow] for reflection upon the many cartoons I have produced and providing a point from which to move forward.
“It would also make my mum proud.”
The event, at which guests will be able to purchase signed copies of the book, will take place between 2pm and 6pm this Sunday.
