A SCHOOL with happy pupils and a strong curriculum has received praise in its first inspection from Ofsted.

The education watchdog inspected Feering Primary School and rated it good across the board.

The report said: “Pupils feel happy and safe, and they behave well in and out of lessons. They speak with pride about how everyone looks after each other at school.

“Pupils achieve well across the curriculum and work hard to achieve the high expectations leaders have of them.

“Pupils enjoy the many opportunities on offer to them. Trips and visitors help pupils to learn more about the topics they study. They enjoy going to clubs such as computing or brick construction club.”

It also praised the curriculum and leaders at the school.

The report said: “Leaders have designed a curriculum in which the knowledge that pupils learn is clearly sequenced.

“This helps pupils to build on what they already know. As a result, pupils achieve well.

“Staff are well trained to support and adapt learning for pupils with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND). Pupils with SEND experience the same curriculum as all pupils.”

It also added safeguarding at the school is effective.

Headteacher Bridgette Gough said: “We are very proud to share Feering Primary School has been graded a good school.

“Crucially, the report identified our pupils work hard to achieve the high expectations leaders have for them, they achieve well across the curriculum and feel happy and safe at school.

“The report highlights this starts from the very beginning of our pupils’ learning journey, with the judgement that pupils get off to a strong start in the early years."

She said it was particularly pleasing that inspectors noted that pupils speak with pride about how everyone looks after each other at school, adding: “They also commented upon the older pupils’ helping younger ones, relishing the opportunity to be playground buddies.

“This demonstrates the impact of leaders’ work towards fostering a strong family feel within our school.

“We are all very much looking forward to continuing to strive to make our school the absolute best it can be for those who choose to send their children to Feering School.”
