Comedian Johnny Vegas has ditched his usual haunt of Benidorm to holiday on Tendring's sunshine coast.
Mr Vegas, whose real name is Michael Pennington, visited Walton for the day and spent time on the resort's beach, which was last week listed as recommended by the Good Beach Guide.
He visited the resort along with his son, Michael Junior, and was happy to pose for photographs and sign autographs for his fans.
He also popped into Tendring Council's tourist information centre in Princes Esplanade, where he spoke to assistant Janet Copsey.
"They spent some time on the beach," she said.
"Johnny said what a really nice beach it was, and he also commented on how friendly everyone was.
"He also had a good look around the town and went along the High Street, where he bumped into plenty of fans."
He told Mrs Copsey that he will be returning to Benidorm in September to start filming the next series of the hit comedy show, which goes out on ITV.
"He was a really nice man and it was a pleasure to meet him," she added.
