A POPULAR seafood restaurant in Mersea is set to close its doors for around two months due to "technical issues" and slow business over Christmas.
The Oyster Bar, in West Mersea, which was previously recognised by the Good Food Guide, is closed until March 2023.
The business offers quality fresh fish and seafood dishes, including the famed Colchester and Mersea oysters.
The oysters are bred in the creeks of West Mersea and processed in the shed at the side of the restaurant.
The owners said the restaurant will be closed following issues with its kitchen and "the quiet time of year".
A renovation is set to take place while the business is closed.
In a post, they said: "The Oyster Bar will be closed from Monday, December 12, until March 2023.
"Unfortunately due to technical issues with our gas and having a limited menu due to our kitchen not operating properly, and this time of year being quiet for us, we have decided to close up and re-open in March.
"We will be renovating the restaurant in this time, ready for you all in the spring.
"Thank you to all our customers, we look forward to seeing you next year.
"Merry Christmas and Happy New Year."
