FIREFIGHTERS were sent to an incident no more than 150 metres from their headquarters after an automatic fire alarm went off.
Crews from Colchester Fire Station, in Cowdray Avenue, were called to flats in the extremely nearby Catchpool Road, at about 4.37pm, on Tuesday.
Thankfully, upon arrival, no inferno was found, but it was established a fire alarm had been activated as a result of someone cooking.
The firefighters, who are believed to have travelled to the scene in two fire engines, subsequently contacted council bosses who reset the alarm.
