A MUM whose nine-year-old daughter died before Christmas is inviting those who have been “captivated and inspired” by her life to “wrap her in love” one last time.
Erin Sadler will be laid to rest in a private cremation ceremony following a “celebration of life” at St John’s Church, in Colchester, on January 16.
The courageous little fighter, who lived with her mum, Helen, in Ipswich Road, Colchester, died in December breaking the hearts of thousands of people who had followed her journey.
Helen said: “The decision was made to give an opportunity to all those who have been captivated and inspired by Erin to wrap her in love before her final journey.
“It will be a celebration of her extraordinary nine years.”
Since being born in October 2013, Erin, who survived sepsis, a haemorrhage and heart attack, had battled several life-threatening conditions on a daily basis.
In addition to having blood, kidney, liver and heart disease Erin, who once went into cardiac arrest in her mother’s arms, had PTSD and autism.
She also endured hundreds of blood transfusions and was required to take as many 29 medications every day – but she always challenged adversity head-on.
Ahead of the emotional send-off, Helen has also now launched a charity fundraiser for the Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity in her late daughter’s honour.
The non-profit organisation’s support worker Sarah proved a lifeline for Erin throughout her life and was always on hand to provide emotional and practical help.
Helen said: “We had no idea how important Sarah would become to us and how much we would fall in love with her – she has been with us through so much.
“She has been present during appointments, admissions, provided transport and many, many wonderful times outside of healthcare settings.
“It takes a very special person to be a Rainbow Family support worker and we are eternally grateful for the care and support she has given all of us.
“We are so glad she came in to our lives and I can’t put into words how grateful we are for everything she has done for us.
“Her relationship with Erin is so gorgeous and one we will treasure forever.”
The celebration of life will start at 12.30pm but doors open at 11.45am.
