A MAN is due in court after a Peugeot was stolen from a home in Stanway.
Shaun Hogg, 42, of no fixed abode, has now been charged with ten offences in relation to the incident.
Essex Police said the car was taken from Hyena Drive, Stanway, between 9pm and 10pm on Thursday, January 5.
Police officers later located it in Claudius Road, Colchester, before it was driven away.
It was later crashed into a bollard in Bourne Road, Colchester, moments after allegedly being driven at a police car.
Hogg is due at Colchester Magistrates’ Court today (Monday, January 9).
He is accused of making threats to kill, handling stolen goods, making off without payment, failing to provide specimen for analysis and failing to stop when directed by a police constable.
He has also been charged with aggravated vehicle taking, driving without insurance, driving while disqualified, failing to stop after an accident and driving without a licence.
Colchester district commander Colin Cox said at the time: ““Thanks to some really quick work, we were able to apprehend a man who we believe to be responsible for the theft of a car in Colchester.”
