Firefighters were called to a tumble dryer fire in a pub in Colchester last night.
On arrival, crews reported that a flat above the pub was smoke logged.
Firefighters from Colchester Fire Station, wearing breathing apparatus, rushed to the scene and found a fire in a tumble dryer.
They extinguished it by 8.27pm.
The cause of the fire was accidental after the contents of the tumble dryer had overheated while the dryer was on.
Crews ventilated the pub and with the damage contained to the washing machine, the flat and pub were safe to return to.
There are two pubs in Shrub End Road; Berechurch Arms and The Leather Bottle.
Essex Fire and Rescue Service have not confirmed which pub they attended.
