COLCHESTER United have signed teenage forward Oscar Thorn for their under-21 side.

Thorn, 18, who can play as a striker or off the wing, has signed a one-and-a-half-year deal with the U's.

The pacey striker is comfortable down the left, middle or right of the forward line.

He had previously been on the books of both Arsenal and Norwich City, before linking up with Colchester's development squad.

Thorn signed his first professional contract with Norwich in the summer of 2021, after just a season in the Canaries' academy.

Thorn told the U's website: “As soon as I came in the lads have made me feel welcome, and I’ve been training with the team for about a month now.

“The set-up and the coaches are great and I’m buzzing to be here.

“It’s taken its time (to get the deal done), but I’m glad it’s all over and I’m ready to get started.”

Thorn could feature in Colchester under-21s' clash with Cardiff City tomorrow, at Maldon and Tiptree FC.
