A MENTAL health charity has been announced as the charity partners for a popular running event ahead of its return.
The Colchester Stampede 10k is back later this year, taking keen runners around one of the much-loved attractions in the city.
Taking place at Colchester Zoo, the route starts in the zoo itself taking in the main attractions, the closed road route then explores the local villages before returning through the zoo.
This year, the race will be supporting Mid and North East Essex Mind.
Fundraising manager the charity Stephanie Mills said: “We are thrilled to be nominated as the chosen charity for the Colchester Zoo Stampede.
“We know that exercise can have a really positive impact on our mental health and wellbeing, and we are delighted to be able to offer our supporters a place in this event.”
The race takes place on Sunday, May 14 and will coincide with the start of Mental Health Awareness Week.
Early bird registration is £15, ordinarily £34, until January 31.
Everyone running for the charity will receive a free uniquely themed running vest.
Following the race, each runner will have complimentary access to the Zoo, a uniquely themed medal and post-race goodies.
