RESIDENTS in Colchester and day-trippers heading to the city in the hope of catching a glimpse of His Royal Highness have been urged to stay safe and vigilant.
King Charles III and The Queen Consort will visit Colchester Castle and Colchester Library tomorrow in celebration of the area becoming a city.
Since being made aware of the momentous occasion, Essex Police have been working hard ahead of the monarch’s arrival alongside Colchester Council.
Rachel Nolen, assistant chief constable at Essex Police, has said she and all those in the force are thrilled to be involved in the special day.
She said: “It is the greatest privilege for Essex Police to be involved in supporting our partners to prepare for and welcome His Majesty the King.
“It’s a momentous occasion for our force and our county.
“We want everyone to enjoy the day as safely as they can and ask that everyone remains vigilant on the day.
“If you need us we will have lots of officers in Colchester on the day supporting the policing of the event.
“So find us if you need us and please say hello. We are very excited to be joining our community to welcome His Majesty the King and the Queen Consort.”
An Essex Police spokesman said: “if you see anything suspicious please report it to the nearest officer. We are there to keep you safe and ensure you enjoy this occasion.
“To ensure the safety and enjoyment of all there will be a no-fly zone over Colchester city for the duration of the King’s visit.
“Please ensure that if you own a drone you do not contravene the no-fly zone.
“Please join us in this moment occasion for our county and if you spot our officers please say hello.”
