MORE than 35,000 people flooded through the doors of the Mercury Theatre to watch its pantomime during a record breaking year.
The theatre in Balkerne Gate, Colchester, put on a series of show-stopping performances of Beauty and the Beast during the festive season.
Figures released by the Mercury reveal 35,590 people attended the show… and almost 11,000 ice cream tubs were sold.
The theatre also stated it sold 444 flashing toy swords, equivalent to the length of almost 25 double decker buses.
A spokesman said: “It was an absolute beauty of a show, and we feel like our next one will be too.”
