A COLCHESTER supermarket has reopened after undergoing a refurbishment over several days.
The Aldi branch in Cowdray Avenue shut last Friday for five days whilst the store received a refit, reopening on Thursday at 8am.
Many of the products have been moved around, with bread now located further away from the entrance and closer to the tills.
New freezers, which Aldi bosses say are easy for customers to browse through, have also been put in place.
Several of the staffed checkouts remain, although there are now a total of seven self-service checkouts.
The Magdalen Street branch of Aldi, which received a major revamp last year, also installed the new self-service tills recently as the discount retailer look to continue to compete with the UK’s supermarket giants Tesco, Asda, and Sainsbury’s.
The transformation is part of the German retailer’s £600m investment into further improving its stores and services across the Britain.
The Cowdray Avenue store manager said: “The store is looking fantastic.”
“We’re committed to making sure that the shopping experience each customer enjoys in our stores is on a par with the products and service they’re used to.”
Over the next week, outdoor accessories including a patio, a walk-in greenhouse, and a steel chiminea will be on sale in the store.
