STAFF and managers at a Colchester care home are delighted after being given a good Care Quality Commission rating, following a recent inspection.

Colonia Court Bupa care home, on St Andrew's Avenue, achieved its good CQC rating following a recent inspection following a rating of requires improvement back in May 2022.

The home currently has 108 residents providing them with personal and specialist care  over four purpose build units.

The home was commended for its ability to provide care and promote a good quality of life for its residents with the home’s leadership team praised for their culture of high quality, person-centred care.

Gazette:

At their last inspection, the Care Quality Commission inspectors rated the home as needing improvement, with the rating changing to good at this inspection, meaning service users were safe and protected from harm.

The CQC said the home was well led which was evidenced by service leadership, management governance and person-centred care.

The report reads: “At our last inspection we rated this key question requires improvement. At this inspection the rating has changed to good.

“This meant the service was consistently managed and well-led. Leaders and the culture they created promoted high quality, person-centred care.

The inspector also noted the staff's dedication to providing residents with a high quality of life. Giving one example where staff went above and beyond, the report reads: “One person never had the opportunity to receive their medals when they were in the RAF.

“For their 99th birthday staff sourced the medals and arranged for a representative from the RAF to come and present the medals to the person during an award ceremony hosted by the service.”

Jiji George, Home Manager at Colonia Court Bupa care home, commented: “We are delighted to have achieved this good status and glowing report.

"It is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and commitment of the team at Colonia Court, who always strive for the best quality of life possible for our residents.”
