FOUR restaurant giants are set to open their doors to punters at the all new £65 million leisure and retail park, offering Colchester eaters the taste of something different.

The site is already set to boast a wealth of international cuisine, including Kervan Kitchen, a regional buffet operator which offers a wide range of global dishes.

An Eastern Mediterranean restaurant and a gelato hub have also already agreed to lease units at the impressive Northern Gateway, located by the Jobserve Stadium.

The buffet operator will occupy a whopping 4,000 sq ft site, with the Gelato and Mediterranean restaurants both moving into a 3,200 sq ft unit.

The ambitious site has also secured signatures from Greggs and Travelodge, as well as a 12-screen cinema, 20-lane Hollywood Bowl bowling alley, Puttstars indoor golf and a Jump Street trampoline play park.

According to Whybrow’s chartered surveyors, who are on the project’s development team, negotiations with several other businesses are also promisingly moving ahead.

An official date for the long-awaited Wendy’s has also now been set.

The American fast-food giant is set to open its doors to foodies in May of this year. The Colchester store will mark the brand’s second drive-thru location in the UK, meaning fans can fix their cravings whilst on the go.

The sites of the new fast-food outlet and iconic Greggs bakery will each boast a drive-thru, which will encompass a grand 200,000 square feet.

Colchester customers will have the opportunity to try the brand's signature items, as well as an exclusive range of menu items tailored for United Kingdom diners.

Punters can try the iconic menu staples, which put the fast-food giant on the map, such as the Baconator, Dave’s Double, the Spicy Chicken Sandwich, and the brand’s iconic Frosty ice cream, in vanilla and chocolate flavours.

As well as the menu classics, diners can try an exclusive range of items tailored especially to Brits, such as the Avocado Chicken Club, Curry Bean Burger, and chicken nuggets made from whole chicken breast.

More venues are yet to be announced on the site, which is set to officially open in September of this year.
