RESIDENTS in Colchester have been affected by a power cut due to an underground electricity cable fault.
UK Power Networks is reporting a power cut in the eastern area of the city centre.
Reported areas that may be affected are those in and around the A134 heading towards the Hythe, as well as East Hill and Greenstead amongst others.
The core postcode affected is reported as those beginning with 'CO1 2'.
UK Power Networks have said it is an unplanned power cut.
A spokesman said: "A fault has occurred on an underground electricity cable affecting the local area, we may have to dig up the road to carry out repairs."
"Power may not return until later this evening, March 29, between 9pm and 10pm.
"We may be able to get some customers on sooner."

The spokesman continued: "The information on our website is live and up-to-date.
"This is the same information that our call advisors give customers over the phone.
"Please only call us if you're in a dangerous situation or notice any damage to our equipment."
