DRIVERS faced lengthy delays following two crashes on the same stretch of a busy main road earlier today.
AA's traffic map reported two crashes on the A1124 spanning Colchester and Earls Colne at around 10.15am today.
The first incident occurred in London Road, in Lexden, and caused heavy congestion in both directions at New Farm Road.
In the westbound direction, there were queues back past St Leonard’s Church.

This first crash was followed by a second incident in High Street, Earls Colne, which caused slow traffic in both directions at York Road.
The crash in Earls Colne was close to an existing construction area where the traffic is already slow because of nearby temporary traffic lights.
Both incidents have since been cleared.
