A FORMER bank building could be knocked down and redeveloped into retail space and four homes.
Plans have been submitted for the site at 86 Church Road in Tiptree to demolish the existing building and build a three-storey building comprising of one retail unit and four two-bedroom flats.
The existing two-storey site was last used as Lloyds Bank, which closed in July 2022.
The retail space on the ground floor is intended to be used for a commercial, business and service space.
In the plans it states: “The designs look to replicate the adjoining three-storey development and fit in with the pattern of development in the area.
“From the lobby the four flats will be accessed at first and second floors. Each flat will comprise of an open plan kitchen and living area, with two bedrooms and bathroom.
“The flats will also benefit from private balconies to the rear of the development, again a design feature replicated from the adjoining development.”
There are currently five car parking spaces to the rear of the site and the plans look to develop an additional two spaces.
A total of eight cycle spaces have also been proposed.
Colchester Council will have the final say.
