ROADS are set to close for weeks to allow for works to be carried out in the county.

A road in Clacton will be closed for more than four weeks.

An order has been made to close Upper Park Road from its junction with Alton Park Road to its junction with Anchor Road for approximately 100m.

The closure, which is necessary for gas main replacement works, is scheduled to commence on May 8 for 29 days.

Ashbury Drive, Marks Tey, will be closed between Bury Close and Coggeshall Road, for around 50m, from May 9 for 18 days.

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pipe replacement works are undertaken by Anglian Water.

Broadband installation works undertaken by Virgin Media will close a Braintree road for 15 days.

Thames Close, from its junction with Chelmer Road to its end, is scheduled to be closed from May 9. No alternative route will be available.

An 800m stretch of East Mersea Road, West Mersea, will be closed from its junction with The Strood to its junction with Dawes Lane for five days from May 12.

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway patching works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

Footway subsidence investigation works undertaken by Essex County Council will close Chapel Lane, Thorrington for six days.

The closure is scheduled to commence on April 27 and will be between the junctions with Clacton Road and Church Road.

Two stretches of London Road, Stanway, will be closed on April 25 for one day.

The first is from its junction with Tollgate Roundabout for approximately 90m in a southwesterly direction. The second is from its junction with Sealion Approach for approximately 75m in a southwesterly direction.

The closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole replacement works are undertaken by Openreach.

Alternative routes are available for both.

New supply works due to be completed by Anglian Water will close Prince Albert Road, West Mersea, from its junction with The Coverts for approximately 30m in a southwesterly direction.

The closure is scheduled to commence on April 26 for three days.

An alternative route is available via Willoughby Avenue, Victoria Esplanade, Broomhills Road and vice versa (with access only to Prince Albert Road).

Carriageway patching works will close a Colchester road for six days.

The closure on Wickham Road will be from its junction with Butt Road to its junction with Errington Road for approximately 290m and is due to start on April 27.

Mumfords Hill, Wethersfield, will be closed for approximately 850m between Beazley End and Rotten End.

This is to allow drainage and ironworks replacement to be undertaken by Essex County Council.

The closure is scheduled to commence on May 9 for 3 days. An alternative route is available via Blackmore End, Gosfield Road, Oak Hill, Mumfords Hill and vice versa.

Ranks Green Road, Fairstead, will be closed for 16 days for carriageway excavation works.

The closure will be between Fairstead Lodge Road and Mill Lane – a distance of over 1.2km. It is due to start on April 25.
