A PUB which opened a takeaway site during the pandemic has now transformed it into a brand new coffee shop.

The Three Horseshoes, in Church Road, Fordham, has gone from strength to strength since its opening, achieving two AA Rosetes within the first two years of trading.

The pub opened a coffee shop in its garage in January 2020, but was quickly hindered by the Covid-19 pandemic.

However, as restrictions lifted it started to sell barista style coffee, a selection of tea and hot chocolate.

Like many hospitality venues, during the third lockdown in 2021, owner Moira Edwards and her team began to serve takeaway drinks and sweet and savoury snacks to the community from an outdoor shed next to the pub.

After two successful years, with the takeaway offering from the shed becoming such a popular staple in the area, the time came to expand and establish the venue in its own right.

It boasts a new look and larger space with covered banquete seating from which to enjoy the views over the Woodland Trust fields.

The pub team have been busy giving the garden and terrace at the rear of the pub a complete makeover, which will offer a casual all-day dining experience from May.

Owner Moira Edwards said: “We have so many visitors to the Coffee Shed in the mornings, so we wanted to create a comfortable welcoming space for our guests to enjoy their time with us.

“It’s become a popular destination for locals and dog-walkers, so it’s great to be able to create this new area and also expand the food offering.”

The Coffee Shed menu has been developed, so on top of the popular croissants and sausage rolls, there is now the addition of paninis, hot-cross buns, seasonal fruit, locally-made temprd chocolate and old-fashioned sweets.

Freshly baked artisan sourdough, sticky pickle chutneys and pickles will also be available to takeaway.

“It’s an exciting time for us," added Moira.

The Coffee Shed is open five days a week. On Wednesday to Friday from 10am to 2pm and Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 2pm from April 1.
