A NEW darts league has marked the success of its first six months with the help of sport legend Bobby George.
The Colchester Mixed Darts Open League launched last October and the inaugural winners have claimed their prize this month.
The league was founded by Pamela Waller, who also serves as its president.
Former professional darts player Bobby, who is the league’s ambassador, also attended the special event.
Bobby, known for his flamboyant entrances to Queen’s “We Are The Champions”, has also worked as a broadcaster for the BBC since 1998.
Originally from Manor Park in East London, Bobby has lived in north Essex for more than 20 years.
He said: “This is the poshest presentation venue I have been to.”
Colchester mayor Tim Young showed his support by making an appearance.
The Foresters Arm received their first-place prize at the event.
Meanwhile, the Britannia Gurkha were honoured as the runners-up.
Chairman Liam Waller said: “The league has proven to be very successful and valued, Inviting people from all backgrounds, ages and cultures.
“Promoting diversity and challenging prejudice, the mixed league is fun, friendly and kind.”
