A CONTROLLING boyfriend who dragged his pregnant partner through their house by her hair has been jailed for four years.
Ryan Brown, 26, shoved his girlfriend on to their bed and strangled her until she was “gargling” while her five-year-old son watched on.
David Barr, prosecuting at Chelmsford Crown Court, said the Harwich man has an “extensive history of abuse and escalating violence against his partners”.
The court heard he relentlessly threatened, terrorised and controlled another woman.
A statement read to the court on her behalf said: “It was the scariest thing I have ever been subjected to.”
Brown, who appeared via video link from Chelmsford Prison, held his head in his hands as further details of his harrowing campaign of fear between 2021 and 2022 were detailed in court.

Mr Barr said Brown told the woman “You are going to end up dead” and “It will get worse if you are a snake” as he demanded she withdrew a statement made to the police.
The kiosk worker also threatened to share private sexual photographs of her.
He then met another woman online who became his girlfriend in late 2021.
But months into their relationship she enraged Brown by “talking over him” while trying to deal with her autistic son.
“He grabbed the top of her hair and dragged her into her son’s bedroom. She fell back on his bed,” added Mr Barr.
“He was shouting, screaming and being physically aggressive. He locked his arm around her throat to strangle her to the point she was gargling.”
The court was told Brown’s prolonged attack left his girlfriend with 33 bruises.
Brown, of Harbour Crescent, Harwich, admitted offences of witness intimidation, threatening to disclose a private sexual photograph and putting a person in fear of violence by harassment in relation to the first woman.
He admitted two counts of assault causing actual bodily harm to his ex-girlfriend.
Tommy Dominguez, mitigating, said Brown is “truly disgusted” with what he did.
Recorder Alun Eynon-Evans jailed the defendant for four years and two months and imposed a restraining order to protect the victims.
