BRITS are getting ready for a month of celebrations and here's how you can really make the most of it.

Thanks to King Charles, May will be jam-packed with time off as the summer kicks in.

The nation will come together to mark the occasion of the King's coronation and will be given an extra day off work to take part in a three-day weekend of celebrations.

But there is a sneaky way to properly maximise time away from work by simply using just a few days of your holiday allowance.

Monday to Friday workers can get ten days off using just four days' leave due to the royal ceremony, which will take place on Saturday, May 6.

How to get 10 days of work with four days of annual leave

If you take Tuesday, May 2, Wednesday, May 3, Thursday, May 4, and Friday, May 5 off, you'll get ten days off in a row when you add on the additional Bank Holiday and weekend dates.

The coronation weekend promises to be a memorable occasion with many events and celebrations.

Colchester Council is encouraging residents to get involved in events and activities to mark the occasion including a picnic in Castle Park and a fun day at the Mercury Theatre.

The proceedings will begin with Colchester’s Coronation Picnic in Upper Castle Park.

Following this will be a 21-gun salute in Castle Park, to be fired at approximately noon as the King is crowned.

Giant Union Jack deck chairs will also be in Culver Square throughout the day.

In addition, Colchester Castle, Colchester Town Hall, Mercury Theatre and Jumbo Water Tower will be lit up in a mix of red, white and blue.
