A MAN had an unknown liquid thrown over him in a reported drive-by incident.
Police cars, ambulances, and a fire engine raced to St Botolph’s circus roundabout after reports came in of an assault in nearby Magdalen Street, Colchester.
Essex County Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they responded to a call to assist the ambulance service in what was described as “a potential corrosive attack.”
Essex Police said a man in his 40s, who had been walking in Magdalen Street, had an unknown liquid thrown over him by an individual driving past in a black Volkswagen.
The East of England Ambulance Service confirmed, however, the man was not transported to hospital.

Following the incident, an Essex Police spokesman said: “We were called to reports of an assault in Magdalen Street, Colchester at around 9.45pm on Sunday 30 April.
“It was reported a man in his 40s had an unknown liquid thrown over him while walking down the road.
“He sustained reddening to his eyes.
“The assailant was in what has been described as a black Volkswagen car.”
Essex Police has asked anyone with information or footage in relation to the incident to get in touch by calling 101 and quoting the crime reference number 42/78268/23.
