COLCHESTER’S newest shop serving up tasty bagel is opening today.
Brick Lane Bagel Co. is set to open its doors in the city centre High Street today, May 6.
Just in time for the coronation celebration, the famous business will be selling a variety of bagels to visitors.
First teased at the start of the year, it was expected to open in April.
However, the date was later confirmed as May 6.
The menu features breakfast and signature bagels to choose from.
Franchise director Elliott Hearne described the choices as fillings which are “cheap and cheerful”, as well as seven or eight main bagels which are “slightly more expensive but better in quality”.
The breakfast bagel menu is full of variety.
Here is what you can choose from:
- Big Daddy – big daddy sausage, bacon, egg and latke - £6.50
- Cumberland sausage - £4
- Streaky Danish bacon - £4
- Cumberland sausage and streaky Danish bacon - £5
- Egg and cheese - £3.50
- Streaky Danish bacon, egg and cheese - £5
- Scrambled eggs, avocado, tomato, latke and sriracha mayo - £5.75
- Jam and butter - £2.25
- Marmite - £2.50
- Nutella £2.50
- Peanut butter and jam - £3
It is also expected it will sell its signature bagels as well, however this is yet to be confirmed.

On the website, the signature bagels include:
- Salt Beef - Dill pickle, and Coleman’s English mustard - £6.95
- New York Lox – Oak smoked salmon, cream cheese, red onions and capers - £6.25
- Slow Smoked Pastrami - with Coleman's English Mustard - £6.95
- Reuben - Salt Beef, Sauerkraut, Melted Swiss Cheese, House Russian Sauce - £7.50
- Rachel - Smoked turkey breast, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and house Russian sauce - £6.50
- Schnitzel - Chicken escalope, lettuce, melted cheese and May - £6
On the opening, which was expected slightly earlier, Elliot said: "Sorry for the delays.
"It’s always exciting once the signs go up.
"Hopefully, we can create a nice family atmosphere for everyone in the community."
“I think it will be another really good hub for the community.
“We want people to enjoy it and want to come back, really have a good experience.
“The locals and regulars are the bread and butter of every single franchise.
“All our staff are amazing and friendly and we try to talk to all customers from all backgrounds.
“We want to put a smile on people’s faces.
“We do try and keep our prices relatively low too, inflation is a killer but we know what it is like.”
