AN indie rock band who have just soared to the top of the charts will perform in Colchester in what has been branded “a huge coup” for the city.
The Lottery Winners, made-up of Thom Rylance, Robert Lally, Katie Lloyd, and Joe Singleton, will take to the stage of Three Wise Monkeys, in the High Street, in July.
The sure-to-be special show will come hot off the back of the quartet achieving a Number 1 album with their fifth effort Anxiety Replacement Therapy.
The group’s most recent release features collaborations with stars such as Boy George, Frank Turner, and Happy Mondays’ Shaun Ryder.
Alan Jones, who is the events manager of Three Wise Monkeys’ top floor venue, is thrilled to have secured one of the music industry’s most popular guitar acts.
He said: “We are always trying to book the best acts – be it local or touring artists – so to be able to bring The Lottery Winners to the venue is a massive result for us.
“They have been grafting for years and finally they are beginning to get the plaudits they deserve, so it is a great time to be able to bring them to Colchester.
“It is such a huge coup for both the venue and the city and we really cannot wait for the gig – we have no doubt the band will have as great a time as the crowd.”

Three Wise Monkeys’ latest big name acquisition comes after the venue also played hosted to famous folk artist Frank Turner, whose show sold-out in minutes.
“This year has already been a really positive one for us and we plan to continue capitalising on that success,” added Alan, who also runs Black Cactus Studio.
“The new-look venue is proving popular with artists and customers alike and it really feels like we and other Colchester venues are starting to tap into something special.”
The Lottery Winners will perform at Three Wise Monkeys on July 20 and support will come in the form of local artists.
