AN eco-ambassador embarking on a 2,000-mile bike ride to help fund his planet-saving dream is heading back to Colchester after reaching his halfway point.
Piter Vera Arroyo, 47, of is currently tackling an ambitious cycling challenge which will see him journey to Scotland and back again.
The businessman, who lives with ADHD and autism, has decided to take on the demanding cycle to raise awareness of the urgent need to combat plastic waste.
He is also striving to generate funds for a huge project he is working on.
Piter hopes to one day establish the first factory to transform plastic waste into lightweight and efficient building materials in Essex.
Since setting off on his bike ride to Scotland, however, Piter has been confronted with tough conditions and, at points, terrifying encounters.
He said: "I don’t think I can make it to Stromnes - instead my plan is to go to Aberdeen and then head back as although I have tried, I am far too tired.
"Sadly, at some points, I feel like I can not move my legs anymore.

"I feel like a robot."
Following his admission a wave of support from family and friends, and those he has met on his journey, has flooded in.
One person said: "You are an amazing person to have achieved what you have. Be proud and know that you are doing the ride to show how much you care."
A traveller, who met Piter on a campsite in Stonehaven, said: "Well done Piter, you have travelled a long way - it's a significant achievement."
And another supporter, from back in Colchester said: "You have got to Scotland very quickly, an amazing achievement.
"Stromness is a very long way away. Aberdeen sounds like a good point to end at and save yourself a ferry fare.
"You should be very proud - what an amazing adventure."
Due to a lack of a safe bike lanes in the area, Piter has since taken a train from Aberdeen back to Dundee, where he will begin his final 500 miles.
And during his short rail journey, he met 'the nicest' conductor, who sponsored him with a hot meal.
His journey back to Colchester should take about three days.
