A DRIVER who was stopped by police while on the way to get a takeaway faced a very expensive meal and a walk home.
Officers stopped a car after reportedly seeing the driver using their mobile phone while driving.
Essex Police Colchester posted about the incident on their social media page.
They said: "What's worse than being caught driving while using your mobile phone by our local policing team?
"Being caught driving while using your mobile phone and not having insurance on your car, as the driver of this vehicle found out.
"The driver thought it was ok because they were just getting a takeaway... It turned out to be a very expensive meal and a walk home as the car was seized and they will be getting a date with a magistrate very soon.
"If your vehicles not insured while driving, you will lose it... Even if you are just grabbing a bite to eat."
According to GOV.UK, drivers can get six penalty points and a £200 fine for holding and using a phone or any device that can send data while driving.
