A RECKLESS motorcyclist has been fined for riding with his legs over the handlebars and “dancing”.
Stephen Mangiuera was seen performing the dangerous stunt while riding a Yamaha motorcycle on the Ipswich-bound A12 at Stoke-by-Nayland.
Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court heard the 22-year-old was caught on camera at 9.35am on August 20 last year.
A report served to the court states he was first seen in the nearside lane with his legs hanging over the handlebars of the vehicle, which was displaying learner plates.
The report reads: “The driver of the motorbike had what appears to be a phone attached to the front of his motorbike and was dancing along, making hand gestures whilst his legs hung over the handlebars.
“The driver undertook vehicles and then moved into the outside lane and then from the handlebars the driver swung his left leg over to the right side of his bike and continued to drive with two legs over one side, speeding ahead of the other vehicles.”
Mangiurea, of Sterry Gardens, Dagenham, admitted driving without due care and attention.
He was handed six penalty points on his licence and fined £400.
The defendant must pay a further £270 in costs and a surcharge.
