A BAKERY giant has opened its newest Colchester location.

Greggs opened its new and improved city centre shop in Colchester yesterday.

Previously located in High Street, Colchester, the popular brand has moved to a larger unit in Culver Street West.

The new shop, which was previously occupied by JD Sports before the fashion retailer moved to Lion Walk Shopping Centre, will stock freshly prepared Greggs favourites, including its popular sausage roll and steak bake.

As well as freshly made bakes and sweet treats, diners will also be able to enjoy Greggs’ breakfast combinations until 11am every day.

The company’s retail operations boss Gillian Long said: “We’re excited to be welcoming customers to our improved shop in Colchester.

“We look forward to providing customers with a modern, convenient new place to experience their favourite Greggs food.”

The new café sports a fresh new look and comfortable indoor seating which customers will be able to enjoy between 7am and 9pm Monday to Saturday and between 8am and 5pm on Sundays.

The chain already has a huge presence in Colchester which is set to expand further later this year with the opening of a drive-thru site at the new Northern Gateway Leisure Park.
