FORMER Colchester United midfielder Ben Stevenson will remain in League One next season after signing for Portsmouth.
The 26-year-old, who made nearly 100 league and cup appearances for Colchester, has joined Pompey on a two-year deal, with a club option of an additional 12 months.
Portsmouth boss John Mousinho told the club's website: “We’re bringing in a player who covers all the positions in the middle of the park.

“He’s a really good footballer and an excellent character as well, so we’re delighted to have him at Pompey.

“Ben will be looking to add a few more goals and assists to his game, but he’s got all the attributes we’re looking for.
“I think he complements the guys we already have in the building and has an important role to play off the pitch, as well as on it.”

Stevenson initially joined Colchester on loan in January, 2018.
The former Coventry City youngster signed a two-and-a-half year contract with the U's when he joined them on a permanent basis from Wolves in January, 2019.

He left Colchester in the summer of 2021, following the expiry of his contract and joined Forest Green for whom he made 35 appearances last season, as they were relegated back to League Two at the first time of asking.
Stevenson was one of a number of players to depart Rovers last month, following the announcement of their retained list.
He was part of the Gloucestershire club's League Two title-winning side in the 2021/22 season.
