COLCHESTER United will kick off the new Sky Bet League Two season with a home game against Swindon Town.

The U's will host the Robins at the JobServe Community Stadium on August 5, after the EFL fixtures for the 2023-24 campaign were released this morning.

The game will see U's boss Ben Garner take on the side he led to the League Two play-offs, in the 2021-22 season.

Garner's side will then visit Mark Hughes' Bradford City on August 12 before hosting Johnnie Jackson's AFC Wimbledon, on August 15.

Colchester will then host MK Dons on August 19 before rounding off the month with a trip to play Gillingham, on August 26.

Colchester will visit MK DonsΒ on Boxing Day and host Gillingham, on New Year's Day.

Over the Easter period, they will host Newport CountyΒ on Good Friday and visit Tranmere Rovers, on Easter Monday.

The U's will complete the season with a home game against Crewe Alexandra.

Colchester will be joined in League Two this season by Phil Parkinson's Wrexham, who will be returning to the EFL following their promotion as National League champions.

Also coming up to League Two are Notts County, who beat Chesterfield in the National League play-off final, at Wembley.

Garner will be looking to get off to a good start following his appointment as Colchester's new head coach, in March.

Colchester’s players return for pre-season training today and travel to Spain for a training camp, next week.

Their first friendly is at Maldon and Tiptree, on July 8.

Colchester have been joined by Spurs under-21s in Southern Group D of this season'sΒ EFL Trophy.Β 

Cambridge United and Peterborough United are also in the group.

The draw for the first round of the Carabao Cup takes place at 2.30pm today and will be broadcast live on Sky Sports News.
