A DANGEROUS driver has been pictured driving the wrong way at a notorious Colchester roundabout.
The Ford driver was pictured driving the wrong way on the North Station roundabout near the junction for Mile End Road.
Other bemused motorists are seen looking on, confused at the situation.
It is not known why the driver was heading the wrong way, however, it is believed it caused some traffic issues around the roundabout during the incident.
The incident comes just days after a Colchester councillor spoke on his worries about the roundabout.
Mile End councillor Martin Goss raised concerns about the North Station roundabout with Essex County Council’s highways boss Lee Scott.
Mr Goss has also asked for the Mr Scott to join him at North Station roundabout to see for himself the dangerous conditions.
The city councillor said: “I don’t think in all the time I have lived here or been a councillor I have ever seen such a blunder, I am just flabbergasted by this error.
"I looked at the pictured and wondered if it was April fools joke.
"I am also so confused as to how the driver arrived in this situation and how they got out of it, the whole incident just seems like a crazy situation.
"This design has been in Colchester for more than 20 years and I have never known any issues with it.
"Clearly the driver either had a momentary lapse of concentration, doesn’t know the area or something else.
"If that is their driving ability that is concerning and should consider their future on the roads, because they are a serious danger to the public and to themselves, everyone is just lucky it wasn’t at a busier period.
"As I say it is the first time ever I have seen something like that and if it is a genuine human error then fair enough but that is a serious one.
"Obviously I am just glad nobody was hurt, but the driver needs to take serious stock of what they’ve done."
