A SHOCKED motorist has captured the moment when a driver went the wrong way at a city roundabout putting lives at risk.
Driver Dills_Dashcam on TikTok has shared his clip which sees another motorist take a wrong turn at Colchester’s North Station roundabout.
TikToker Dills_Dashcam has nearly 4,000 followers on his account, amassing more than 400,000 likes.
Two of his most popular clips both featured incidents on the A12 - one a late merge and the other a driver attempting to move cones to escape the queues at the roadworks near Colchester.
Now, he has captured another driver making a big error on a busy city roundabout.
The clip shows a car a few lengths in front of the dashcam, which takes a left turn on North Station roundabout to head up towards Mile End Road.
The driver, who captured the incident, said: “I was shocked something so well signed posted was completely ignored.
“They just carried on with other drivers beeping at them. Thankfully, no-one was hurt by their stupid actions.
“I’ve seen this happen only a handful of times over ten years.
“For me, if you are going somewhere, you have never been before just taking that little extra care as you don’t know the roads.
“But at the same time, road signs are universal, they don’t change from county to county, so this would be down to the lack of concentration of the driver.”
Mile End councillor Martin Goss said: “It does continue to be unbelievable drivers make such horrific foolhardy mistakes when clearly traffic shouldn't and isn't travelling in those directions.
“I've also been contacted by a great many residents and clearly there are several drivers who have dropped serious clangers and navigated in completely the wrong direction.
“Given this design has been in place for over 20 years there has never been to my knowledge any serious accidents from this idiotic and calamitous driving.
“I suppose because I live in the area and drive on it regularly, litter pick on it weekly, I know it and it isn’t confusing.
“However, where the junction is are really bad design is when you are coming from Asda and there are three lanes, one goes left under the bridge and the middle straight into the station.
“But when you come through the congested area you can’t get into the empty lane and the third one is always empty, that road capacity is being wasted.”
