COLCHESTER United have already brought in two new signings, for the forthcoming season.

Defensive duo Ellis Iandolo and Nico Lawrence have both been snapped up by the U's, ahead of the 2023-24 campaign.

But Colchesterโ€™s League Two rivals have also been busy in the early days of the transfer window.

Here are ten signings in the division that have caught the eye, over recent days.

Danny Johnson - Walsall from Mansfield

Striker Danny Johnson has joined Walsall on a two-year contract from League Two rivals, Mansfield Town.

The 30-year-old returns to the club where he enjoyed a productive loan spell in the first of last season.

He netted 15 times in 30 outings for the Saddlers, in all competitions.

Harvey Rodgers - Grimsby from Accrington Stanley

Harvey Rodgers has swapped one League Two side for another after leaving Accrington to join Grimsby.

The defender has linked up with the Mariners on a three-year deal, after his contract with Accrington came to an end.

The 26-year-old made 127 league appearances across his two spells at the Wham Stadium.

Mazeed Ogungbo - Barrow from Arsenal

Left-back Mazeed Ogungbo linked up with Barrow from Premier League giantsย Arsenal for an undisclosed fee.

The 20-year-old has pennedย a two-year deal at the SO Legal stadium following eight years with the Gunners.

Ogungboย spent last season on loan at League Two side Crawley Town, where he made 27 appearances in all competitions.

Daniel Oyegoke - Bradford City from Brentford (loan)

Young right-back Daniel Oyegoke has joined Mark Hughes' side from Premier League outfit on a season-long loan.

The 20-year-old made 18 appearances on loan at MK Dons last season, before being recalled by the Bees, where he was a member of theirย 2022/23 Premier League Cup-winning team.

Matty Bondswell - Newport from Newcastle United (loan)

Promising England under-18 international Matty Bondswell has been snapped up by Newport on a season-long loan.

The 21-year-old left-back was previously with RB Leipzig, prior to joining the Magpies.

Ryan Jackson - Sutton United from Cheltenham Town

A familiar face for Colchester United fans, experienced right-back Ryan Jackson has linked up with their League Two rivals Sutton United.

The 32-year-old right-back has joined Matt Gray's side after leavingย League One side Cheltenham Town, upon the expiry of his contract.

Jackson was offered a new deal by Cheltenham but has opted to move on to pastures new.

Kyle Jameson - Newport County from Tranmere Rovers

Former Oldham Athletic defender Kyle Jameson has swapped one League Two side for another after joining Newport County.

The centre-back has signed a two-year deal with the Exiles, following his release byย Tranmere Rovers at the end of last season.

Jameson, 24, made 14 appearances during a year at Prenton Park but was allowed to leave at the end of last season.

Luke Norris - Tranmere Rovers from Stevenage

Another player who will be very familiar to Colchesterย fans who could be facing them again, this season is Luke Norris.

The experienced strikerย has joined Tranmere Rovers, after leaving Stevenage at the end of the 2022-23 campaign.

Norris, 33, who has signed a one-year contract at Prenton Park, made 96 appearances during his time at Colchester, scoring 23 goals.

Yann Songoโ€™o - Morecambe from Bradford City

Experienced midfielder Yann Songo'o is another player swapping one League Two club for another in this summer transfer window.

The 31-year-old Frenchman spent the second half of last season on loan at Walsall before the expiry of his contract with Bradford City, this summer.

Songo'o has now returned to Morecambe, where he won promotion via the play-offs in 2021 under Derek Adams, with whom he has linked up with for a fifth time.

Aidan Stone - Notts County from Port Vale

Newly-promoted Notts County have bolstered their goalkeeper options with the signing of Aidan Stone on a free transfer from League One side Port Vale.

The 23-year-old, who previously played for Mansfield Town,ย has signed a two-year deal with the Magpies.

He helped Vale win promotion to League Oneย in the 2021-22 season and madeย 26 appearances for them, in the previous campaign.
