COLCHESTER United right-back Junior Tchamadeu has been linked with a move to Championship side Stoke City.

Teenager Tchamadeu enjoyed an excellent campaign for Colchester, last season, making 46 league and cup appearances for the club and scoring five goals.

The U's academy product performed with a high level of consistency in what was a challenging campaign for the club, as they battled to avoid the drop in League Two.

Tchamadeu landed the League Two Young Player of the Year accolade and was also named in the League Two Team of the Season.

The 19-year-old also scooped Colchester’s Player of the Year, Young Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year prizes.

In total, Tchamadeu has made 90 league and cup appearances for the U's since making his debut for them as a 16 year old against Grimsby Town in December, 2020.

Gazette:

Speaking in May, Colchester sporting director Dmitri Halajko told the Gazette that any move away for the likes of Tchamadeu and Noah Chilvers this summer would have to be on the U's terms.

Halajko said: “We’re in a good contract situation with them, they’re performing really well and they love being here.

“We’ve got them all under contract or with an option on their contract, so if they do depart the club for any reason, it will have to be on our terms.

“It will only be because we’ve had a very, very good offer through the door – that’s the only reason any of those players would leave.

“But either way, it’s a position for the club that’s positive and for the young players, it’s positive.”
