A UNIQUE patisserie in Colchester has been put up for sale... less than three months after it opened.

Bella’s Patisserie, in Sir Isaacs Walk, was opened in April this year by husband and wife duo Isabella Maria and Florin.

The couple launched the eatery with the hope of being able to offer something new to residents and visitors to the city.

It initially proved a hit, with Gazette reporter Daniel Rees describing its bakes as "decadent and addictive" when he visited the shop earlier this year.

The owners have now, however, announced they are selling the business, shocking loyal customers.

The bakery has been put on the market for £42,500 with permission for weekend trading.

The shop will remain open for weekends until a sale is agreed on the premises, with Isabella and Florin hoping it will be taken over by someone with a passion for baking.

In a statement posted on social media, they said: “It is with the utmost regret [we] take this decision but [it is] for a very good reason.

"Medical issues have interfered and must be treated seriously.

“Maybe there is a passionate family who would like to run it, as it has great potential.

“Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
