A NUISANCE neighbour who “screams and yells” from his window has sparked a raft of complaints from nearby residents and families.
Colchester Borough Homes is looking into concerns raised about a man who lives in Rowhedge, and shouting at neighbours.
According to residents, the tenant is prone to launching items from his window and has been a disruptive prescence in the area for some time.
Old Heath and the Hythe councillor Mike Lilley has criticised Colchester Borough Homes over a perceived lack of action at resolving the situation.
“He is running amok and my main concern is things will escalate,” said Mr Lilley.
The councillor said Colchester Borough Homes has been aware of the situation “for some time” but has failed to remedy it.
Police officers have reportedly been called to the property in recent weeks to defuse an incident which boiled over.
“Ever since he moved in he has caused a disturbance,” continued Mr Lilley.
“The families nearby are scared to let their children play outside and in this weather it is not fair on them to be stuck inside."
“We as councillors are speaking to Colchester Borough Homes and urging them to take action straight away.
“We have been reporting this for some time now and something needs to be done before there are consequences to someone involved.”
Colchester Borough Homes has now responded to the concerns.
A spokesman said: “We are aware of this tenant, who has been causing disruption for other residents.
“We take these concerns very seriously, and we are committed to ensuring that all of our residents feel safe and comfortable in their homes.
"We have a team of dedicated staff who work hard to resolve issues like this, and we will continue to work with the resident and the local community to find a solution that works for everyone.
“We will keep councillor Lilley updated on our progress as we continue to work with all of the relevant parties to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.
“Any tenant who is affected by antisocial behaviour should call our customer services line on 01206 282514 or report it via email: asb@cbhomes.org.uk.
“If there are any immediate safety concerns, please call 101 or 999 in an emergency, or if you prefer to provide information anonymously contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 / www.crimestoppers-uk.org.”
