DANCING talent clearly runs deep in a family which is celebrating three generations of high achievers.

Evie Vaughan is a member of Starlight Dancing alongside her mum Clarissa Vaughan and grandmother Jackie Stanton.

The trio all did extremely well in their recent exams after perfecting their ballroom and Latin dance skills at the dance school, which runs classes in Tiptree and Witham.

Evie, 12, smashed her silver ballroom exam, achieving honours, while 76-year-old Jackie also received honours in her bronze bar ballroom exam.

Jackie was also highly commended in her bronze Latin exam, while 51-year-old Clarissa was highly commended in her bronze bar ballroom exam.

Clarissa said she’s really enjoyed learning with her mum and daughter.

She added: “It has enabled us to enjoy spending time together doing an activity we each love to do.

“Learning and practising together is great fun, and often entertaining.

"Dancing together has also meant we have a social activity we can share together, one we all enjoy and one which isn’t separated by generational differences.

“I think that’s quite unique. It’s provided us with some experiences we really treasure - some great memories.

“To share something together that makes you learn keeps you fit and active and is fun. I would really recommend it.”

The school itself is a family affair, too, owned by mum Lorraine Burrell, her son Chris Burrell and daughter Emma Burgess, who said they are “so proud of everyone in the dance school”.

Around 70 pupils took part in the most recent round of exams at the school, which is celebrating its 20th birthday this year, with all of them passing with flying colours.

Lorraine said: “We have already started preparations for our next exam in October.

“We love helping our dancers achieve their dancing dreams and it has been a delight to be able to see ballroom dancing become a family passion as it has been for us for so many years.”

The school started off with one evening beginners class and has since grown to offer a multitude of classes as well as one-on-one sessions and dancing holidays.
