A MAN has been arrested following an early morning assault in Colchester.
Residents reported seeing a police cordon in place on Sunday, July 16, blocking off the entrance to the underground passage underneath St Botolph's roundabout.
Police have confirmed it came after a reported assault, which has since seen a suspect arrested.
A spokesman said: "We were called to reports of an assault in St Botolph’s Street, Colchester, about 3.20am on Sunday.
"A 31-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident and was released on bail.
"The cordon at the scene has been lifted and our enquiries are ongoing."
