A POPULAR high street fashion retailer has confirmed the future of its Colchester store.
Clothes retailer New Look is set to close even more locations after closing branches, including its Witham store, earlier this year.
The fashion giant has confirmed it will be pulling the plug on its stores in Bristol and Rhyl, north Wales, in the coming weeks.
The announcement has left a question mark over the brand’s future in Essex, where it has a huge presence in the county’s towns and city centres.
Is New Look closing in Colchester?
When asked by the Gazette about the future of the Colchester store, in Lion Walk, a New Look spokeswoman confirmed it will remain open at present.
Its neighbouring retailer Boots has also announced the closure of seven stores, including one in Westcliff.
The closures mark the first stage of the high street chemist’s plans to pull the plug on 300 of its stores.
Boots has not yet confirmed the future of its portfolio of stores across Colchester.
Speaking previously, Lion Walk centre manager Martin Leatherdale said he was extremely confident Boots would remain in the city.
Following the announcement of the first round of closures, the Gazette has re-approached Boots to question the fate of its huge Lion Walk store.
