JUNIOR Tchamadeu sat out Colchester United's friendly with Peterborough United due to a slight hip problem.

The 19-year-old's absence from the U's squad for their 1-1 draw with Posh at the JobServe Community Stadium fuelled speculation that he might be on the verge of departing the club.

Tchamadeu has been linked with a move to a Championship club in this summer transfer window with firm interest in the talented youngster, over recent weeks.

But Colchester are yet to receive an offer that matches their valuation of last season's League Two Young Player of the Year.

Gazette:

Colchester head coach Ben Garner said: "Similar to Samson (Tovide) last week, he just felt his hip tighten yesterday (Friday).

"It's one of those going into the middle of the season, you might push to take a chance with it but at this stage, there's no point.

"So we'll let that settle over the weekend and I would hope that he'll be back in training early this week."

Meanwhile, U's boss Garner is hoping to add at least 'two or three' more signings to his squad before the end of the transfer window.

Colchester have already brought in four new signings this summer, with Nico Lawrence, Owen Goodman, Ellis Iandolo and Mauro Bandeira all arriving.

However, Garner is hoping that more will arrive, at the JobServe Community Stadium.

Gazette:

"We're in a pretty good place," said Garner.

"We still need to add; I feel we need two or three more to come into the group.

"It's a long season with a lot of games and we need to make sure that we've got not just the quality but also the depth to cope with that.

"We're working hard on it and still looking at a lot of options.

"We just want to get those over the line, as and when we can.

"But some of the younger ones who have had opportunities have taken them and have showed that they can be a part of our squad, this season."
