COLCHESTER will hold its first Eco Festival next week as the group looks to share tips with the next generation about how to save the planet.

The event, which will be free of charge and take place in Culver Square Shopping Centre, will run from 10am until 3pm on July 31.

Colchester En-Form and Anglian Water will be two of the key players as part of the event, which will involve educational activities for youngsters currently enjoying their summer holiday.

An eco exhibition as well as plant, bug, and eco workshops will feature as some of the main parts of the event.

The bug workshop will get started from 11am and will teach youngsters how to become a “bug bodyguard” whereby kids, who will get a special certificate at the end of the afternoon, can learn how to protect nature each day.

The sow and grow workshop will see children’s gardening educator Lee Connelly – who has featured on Blue Peter – teach children about the secrets of planting seeds.

Gurt the Goblin and the folks from Wyvernwood will run the third workshop of the day as children are whisked away in a story whilst learning about the importance of the protecting the environment.
