A CARELESS motorist who crashed into metal bollards while speeding has been handed penalty points.
Bobbie-James Nicholls, 24, was driving a Volkswagen in Halstead Road, Stanway, when he crashed on June 14 last year.
Colchester Magistrates’ Court heard he was driving at 50mph within the 30mph limit when he crashed into two metal bollards.
Nicholls, of Cross Green, Basildon, was sentenced for driving without due care and attention after the offence was proved via the single justice procedure.
He was handed three points on his driving licence and ordered to pay £250 in costs, a surcharge and a fine.
