A CHARITY is set to receive a large grant in support of its work educating children in the area.
Tiptree Parish Council has approved a £2000 grant to be given to the KYDS Youth Drama Society based in Tiptree.
The club, founded in 2009, is an educational charity “that organises performing arts workshops and projects to help young people in Essex gain valuable skills”.
They stage two shows a year for the public to enjoy, their latest one being Matilda The Musical, performed in Tolleshunt Knights Village Hall in June.
The charity is run by volunteers who run workshops and rehearsals in acting, singing and dancing for young people.
Councillors reviewed the request for funding by KYDS at the latest council meeting.
It was decided with a majority decision amongst the councillors to approve the grant.
A spokesman for Tiptree Parish Council said: “The council reviewed the request by KYDS, and were mindful that it had been some time since a grant had last been approved for this organisation.
“The value they provide to the village was positively remarked upon. After a brief discussion, a grant of £2,000 was mooted.
“A vote was held, and with a majority decision, approved for the grant to be made.”
