A NEW coffee shop with a “stylish” interior is now up and running in Colchester.
The Bakehouse Express has opened its doors in Culver Street East, much to the delight of coffee drinkers and cake eaters.
The café had been running successfully for nearly ten years at its site in Chelmsford, before expanding by launching a shop in Witham.
The business shop has now gone one further, establishing a prescence in Colchester's city centre.
The coffee shop serves breakfast from 8am to 11.20am every day, followed by a lunch menu served until closure at 4pm.
They sell a range of homemade cakes and sweet and savoury treats including scones and teacakes.
Also on the menu is a range of salads, jacket potatoes, sandwiches wraps and ciabattas.
A spokesman for the BakeHouse Coffeeshop said: “We are so excited to have recently launched in Colchester.
“Our offering includes a range of freshly baked sweet treats, delicious hot and cold seasonal drinks and a modern, stylish yet cosy interior.
“Keep an eye out for our Winter Warmers menu coming soon.”
Speaking on the expansion to Colchester, the spokesman said: "Colchester was our next place for expansion as the perfect premises came available - a beautiful light and airy space with great footfall in the city centre."
Speaking previously Colchester Council leader David King said he is excited about the new bakery.
"As a lover of fine bread, ordinary bread and bread of all kinds, I love the idea of a new Bakehouse opening."
