TRAIN services will be disrupted once again this weekend as two of the main rail unions resume strike action.
The RMT, the union which represents rail, maritime and transport workers, will stage the strike on Friday and Saturday as part of a long-running pay dispute.
ASLEF, the train drivers’ union, will also strike on Friday, with an overtime ban taking place on Saturday.
Whilst many services will still run over both days, their regularity will be reduced and some lesser-used lines will have trains cancelled altogether.
On Friday, trains from Colchester to London will not start until 8.13am, nearly four hours later than usual, with the final return train running at 10pm.
On Saturday, no service will run from Colchester to Walton via Colchester Town, whilst the main line from Norwich to London – which runs through Colchester – will also be disrupted.
The first train from Colchester to London will run at 7.01am on Saturday, with the final return train running at 10.05pm.
Jamie Burles, Greater Anglia’s managing director, encouraged people to plan ahead before travelling.
He added: "There will be some alterations and cancellations across our network, plus some routes where no trains will run at all.
"On Saturday September 1, it is expected that trains only will operate on four routes, with no services at all on the rest of the network."
