COLCHESTER’s Lower Castle Park is to be taken over during a carnival celebrating the city’s diversity.
The Colchester Carnival and Concert will be held at the city centre park on Sunday from noon until 6pm.
The carnival procession, including carnival queen Freya Bojko, will travel from Sir Isaac’s Walk to the park, travelling along Head Street and High Street.
At Lower Castle Park there will be live music and dance performances, including the Chinese lion dance.
Organised by the Colchester Diverse Communities Network, a variety of stalls selling cultural items and delicious food will be on offer.
Goods include traditional curries and stir-fries to fish and chips, burgers and ice cream.
The organisers say the park will be transformed into a “bustling marketplace” where you can browse and purchase unique items from vendors representing different cultures from across the world.
