RESIDENTS in St Mary’s have said they had to endure the Bank Holiday weekend from hell after they had to withstand a surge of antisocial behaviour at the multi-storey car park.
Emma Dell the secretary of St Mary’s Residents Association, told the Gazette last week the removal of the car park barrier in 2016 had resulted in an escalation of incidents as people no longer have to pay to use the facility all night.
The antisocial behaviour worsened over the Bank Holiday weekend, however, with Mrs Dell saying some residents were afraid to leave their own homes.
She said: "We had the most awful Bank Holiday weekend and on Monday night people seemed to be having a competition in there.
"A lot of people don’t feel safe in their own home, and people did say it felt like a retaliation to the article in the Gazette last week.
"Some residents have got very upset about it all because they actually feel intimidated.
"The car parking partnership have gone on about strategy, but we’ve been told that for six years – they need to be held accountable for it."
