A SOLDIER who has missed his daughter's birthday on three occasions due to serving in the army is set to climb the highest peak in Wales with his wife.
British Army soldier James Stedman, of Colchester, will be looking to conquer Mount Snowdon, also known by its Welsh name Yr Wyddfa, next weekend.
He will be taking on the challenge alongside his wife Dom in aid of military children's charity Little Trooper's which has helped them and their seven-year-old daughter, Piper.
When James is away and deployed overseas, for example, the charity provides many resources to ease the anxiety of separation.
Unfortunately, due to his army commitments, James has missed Piper's birthday for three years in a row.
James said: “I like Little Troopers as its a resource which helps us feel connected even when we are apart.
"I also saw how much comfort it has given my wife when tackling challenges of moving and deployments.”
Dom, who will also be tackling the huge trek, has praised the work of Little Troopers, which was founded by British Army Veteran, Louise Fetifan, in 2011.
She said: “Little Troopers does amazing work and this is an opportunity to help raise vital funds for them which will help to support other military families in the future.
"The website is a perfect place to start when looking for resources to help your family.”
Little Troopers aims to help all children who have a parent serving in the British forces, of which there is estimated to be more than 100,000.
It helps children during challenging times, such as when their parent is deployed, or when they have to move house, school or even country.
Louise Fetigan, founder of Little Troopers, said: “Little Trooper is a small charity with a big heart doing its very best for all the military children out there.
"We are so grateful to all our Snowdon fundraisers.
"Being a military child is a unique experience and it is wonderful to see military families who have benefited from our charity choosing to raise money to support other little troopers.”
